09MnNiDR steel plate is a type of low-temperature vessel plate specially designed for low-temperature pressure vessels, featuring excellent low-temperature toughness, welding performance, and mechanical properties.
I. Basic Information
- "09" indicates that the carbon content is <=0.12%;
- "Mn" represents manganese (1.20%-1.60%);
- "Ni" indicates nickel (0.30%-0.80%);
- "D" and "R" stand for the initials of "Low" (low temperature) and "Pressure Vessel" respectively.

III. Performance Characteristics
Low-Temperature Toughness:
Good impact toughness at -70℃, with V-notch impact energy >=34J, and low susceptibility to brittle fracture;
- Tensile strength: 430-570MPa;
- Yield strength: >=270MPa (>=300MPa for thickness 6-16mm);
- Elongation: >=23%;
Welded joints have high strength and low crack sensitivity, and preheating is usually not required.
IV. Production Process
It includes processes such as steelmaking, continuous casting, rolling, and heat treatment (e.g., normalizing + tempering or quenching + tempering). Mechanical properties are optimized by controlling process parameters.
V. Application Fields
- Petrochemical Industry: Used in deethanizers, CO₂ absorption towers, compressor casings, propane storage tanks, etc.;
- Marine Engineering: Manufacture of low-temperature storage tanks and offshore platform equipment;
- New Energy: Applied in hydrogen storage devices, liquid nitrogen storage tanks, etc.
